Steve WenPetren, PGA
Director of Player Development
Teaches at SW Golf Academy Performance Studio and Brambleton GC

Steve is originally from Detroit, Michigan, and an Air Force Veteran. He earned his Class “A” Membership into the PGA of  America in 1996 and is now a Quarter Century Member. If you take a lesson with Steve, you will not only improve your game but you will see right away that playing golf and teaching golf are his true life passions. Steve’s number one personal golf goal each season is to play 100 rounds of golf. Steve eats, drinks, and breathes golf. He does not take his passions lightly, he wants you to succeed...probably more than you want yourself to succeed! He will push and challenge you every step of the way. All he asks is that you give what you can and have passion for the game. If you are an insider of the Academy, which has no real definition, he will send you e-mails, podcasts, and texts. He wants you to be a part of the SWGA family.  He takes players on learning and playing excursions every year. If you are a competitive golfer he will invite you to play MAPGA Pro-Ams. All of these components will help you achieve your goals as a player. Steve was nominated for the Middle Atlantic PGA Teacher of the Year on numerous occasions and Top 30 Player of the Decade. Earlier in his career, Steve was an Assistant Golf Coach at the University of Maryland.  He was also the  Director of Instruction at IronWood Sports Park, Woody’s Golf Range and Brambleton Golf Course. While at Woody’s, Steve started his own brand, The SW Golf Academy (SWGA). In 2014 Steve opened his dream business, The SWGA Indoor Performance Studio home of the SWGA Boot Camp Program! Steve learned that it takes all aspects of the game to achieve overall improvement. However, the most important aspect and his favorite aspect to discuss is the Mental Game. Steve knows from his extensive experience that regardless of your skill level, the Mental Game will always help you get the most from your talent. The sooner you believe in this, the faster you will improve!

will to prepare that matters.” —Paul “Bear” Bryant
